Archbishop Criticizes Oregon Governor on Abortion

SALEM, Ore. - Archbishop John Vlazny is criticizing Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, a Catholic, for playing host to a pro-abortion rights fundraiser Friday night in Portland.
Vlazny, head of the Archdiocese of Portland, calls abortion a "grave evil" and says it's an embarrassment for Catholics that Kulongoski is hosting the event two days before the church conducts its annual "Respect Life" mass in Portland to show opposition to abortion.
Kulongoski's spokeswoman says, "The archbishop is the governor's pastor," but adds that the two "obviously disagree" on whether abortion should be legal.
