LONDON - Plans for the British publication of a novel about Muhammad's child bride are stalled following a fire at the publisher's London office, according to a company official.
The U.S. publisher of the book, Beaufort Books, announced earlier that it had closed its offices as a "precautionary action" but still intended to publish "The Jewel of Medina."
Beaufort took on American author Sherry Jones' novel after it was dropped by Random House, which feared Muslims would be offended by its subject matter.
The novel is about Aisha, who according to tradition was nine when she became Muhammad's wife.
