LOS ANGELES - Anyone who has watched a loved one's marriage crumble will likely relate to the couple in the movie "Fireproof," which opens today in theaters nationwide.
In the latest film from Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia, Kirk Cameron stars as a heroic firefighter whose marriage is going up in flames.
On the brink of divorce, he accepts his father's 40-day challenge to treat his estranged wife with love, whether he feels it or not -- something called "The Love Dare."
"Fireproof" director Alex Kendrick, who starred in "Facing the Giants," says the latest movie also mixes action and drama with character-based comedy -- and ultimately with hope that comes from faith.
Kendrick hopes a strong opening weekend will keep "Fireproof" in theaters and extend its ministry.
