CBNNews.com - The Beijing Olympics are less than three weeks away, but some say China has not lived up to its promises.
China vowed to improve its human rights before hosting the games, but human rights advocates say the Olympics have made the government even more repressive.
"Regrettably, we have seen a crackdown inside China, especially over the past few months and weeks that appears to make a mockery of those promises," Democratic Rep. James McGovern said.
"Every indication shows that the human rights situation and religious persecution are becoming worse and deteriorating," China Aid Association President Bob Fu said.
Advocates hope President Bush and other world leaders will discuss human rights issues at the opening ceremonies on August 8.
