One Couple's Successful Fight Against Cancer

In March 2012, Russell was diagnosed with a malevolent bladder cancer. It was the worst kind that wouldn’t respond to chemotherapy. Russell was fit, ate wholesome foods and didn’t smoke. “It was unimaginable that he should fall prey to cancer,” says Marion. Statistics show one in three women and one in two men will get cancer. Marion reminds us that one American dies of cancer every minute; that’s nearly 1,500 a day and the equivalent of filling 4 jumbo jets per day! It’s also the number one cause of death by disease in children. The Pyles believe it doesn't have to be this way. “With the right lifestyle choices, we can all reduce our cancer risk by 70% or more and with the right combination of integrative therapies, we can also reverse cancer,” she says.
The American Cancer Society's 2007 Annual Report "Cancer Facts and Figures" says "surgery, chemotherapy and radiation seldom produce a cure." That is the reason why Marion and Russell opted to not only use mainstream medical techniques but they also researched using alternative treatments. After doctors removed the tumor from his bladder, they mentioned other future surgeries may be necessary. The Pyles sought a second opinion from a surgeon who wanted to wait to perform a second biopsy for three more months. During those months, Russell and Marion engaged in rigorous spiritual, nutritional and physical disciplines. “We gave ourselves three months,” says Marion. So they meditated on the Word of God and kept a spiritual journal. They memorized key scriptures and turned them into prayers, and they fasted for various periods of time. They also organized prayer sessions which lasted sometimes two to four hours. Both Russell and Marion have been strong Christians for more than 20 years.
THE NUTRITIONAL ASPECT OF HEALING
In June after Russell was diagnosed, one of their friends told them about a nutritional approach of healing. In their research, Marion and Russell realized that this new nutritional approach would boost Russell’s immune system at a time when it was under tremendous stress. Some of the things they incorporated included eating only organic foods, eliminating sugar completely (Marion says cancer feeds on sugar so therefore you must starve it), avoiding grains like wheat, corn and white rice (that could contain cancer-causing fungal poisons due to the way they are stored), eliminating high-fructose corn syrup, eating approximately 80% plants and 20% animal protein, juicing fresh vegetables and fruit, increasing nuts and seeds, eliminating coffee, tea and dairy products, etc.
One day, a friend of Marion's saw a TV spot for a Christian medical facility that specialized in alternative therapies for treating cancer. After visiting with doctors, the Pyles were full of hope. As part of his customized treatment, Russell used four therapies that they could afford and would likely yield the best results. Doctors used Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to increase oxygen in his body. Cancer loves a low-oxygen environment and this procedure allows the patient to breathe 100% oxygen while resting inside pressurized chambers. In addition, Russell also received two bags of Vitamin C intravenously and Class-IV Laser Therapy. The laser’s infrared light is gently rubbed over the bladder and penetrates into the poorly oxygenated tissue. While Vitamin C and oxygen help strengthen the patient’s immune system, the combination is toxic to cancer and helps hinder its growth. Lastly, Russell received Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy to help heal tumorous tissue. His mainstream treatment included using BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin) which is a type of bacterium which is used to stimulate the bladder’s own immune system so that it fights any toxins in the bladder itself.
In January 2013, Russell’s biopsy tests came back negative. He was cancer-free! While their approach may not be for everyone, Marion believes the Lord directed their steps. “We feel that our discoveries will provide hope and be a tool of spiritual and informational blessing to those faced with a hopeless diagnosis,” says Marion.
